Good morning Jeanie and all the foster parents who helped,
Oscar and Ruby made it across the state quite
well…exhausted and stressed I am sure…but safe and sound. Already, Oscar has
made remarkable strides in adapting to his new home. He seemed to like
having a bath…not quite as sure about the hair dryer, but okay nonetheless.
He spent the first night sleeping with me and the cats who seemed to think
it was no big deal.
Spike, my Yorkie, came home yesterday morning and
appeared thrilled to meet Oscar…of course there wasn’t one blade of dry
grass in the whole yard, but hey… It’s quite dear watching Oscar try to get
Spike to play. Spike isn’t quite so sure, but I know he will get the picture
soon. He does like the attention though. Lots of happy wagging tails.!
Thank you for suggesting I take Oscar’s blanket and
Mariners tee-shirt. After a thorough washing that first night, I put them on
the sofa…he snuggled right in and fell sound asleep. Now the tee-shirt is in
his crate and the blanket is all over the place. He’s obviously grieving for
his previous human, but is beginning to follow me around and seems to be
enjoying the attention.
Do you have access to his shot/vet records? I will need
them for his licensing. And he sounds like he has been “de-barked.” Any
information about that? It may explain why there are no warning growls
before he bites…which he is getting over quickly!
Oscar is well on his way to being a perfect addition to
our lives. He is fitting in so well. Thank you all for making this possible.
Your compassion for this dear little guy is gratefully appreciated.
Sincerely, Pat
Oscar is an older Chihuahua mix, weighs 11.6
pounds. He is neutered, housetrained, and loves to wear his harness. He
is good with women but does dislike some men, having bitten in the past when
he first came to rescue (he was really terrified). Oscar's owner, who had
him since he was a puppy, had to go into a nursing home, and there was no
place for Oscar to go. He is current on his shots, including rabies. He
is crate trained, and loves to ride in the car.
