Ten little puppies were born about April first, and dumped like trash by some evil person before they were weaned.  They were left to starve or be eaten alive by wild animals.  Their guardian angel intervened. They are now with their new  “step mom”, a striking black & white Lab mix named Indy.

Indy was in a temporary foster home herself, having fallen on bad luck too: a stint at the dog pound.  Indy had just surprised the Colville Pet Rescue and her new foster family by giving birth to one baby on their leather sofa the day before she was scheduled to be spayed. (whoops!)

Indy’s foster family named the baby “Crisco” because she was so fat, being an only child, with all that milk to herself.  Crisco was born with a bobtail, and markings like an Australian Shepherd or Border Collie.  Indy welcomed her new brood of ten step-kids for Mother’s Day, and loves them the same as Crisco.

These 10 babies were so hungry when they were found that they were trying to nurse on everything they could - people's arms, fingers, even the family's male dog.  Indy intervened, and took the new babies for her own.

The nine step kids left are so cute and playful!  All colors; black/white, a brindle, a gray.  Five boys, five girls.  What breed are they?  The breed is just Love and Luck.

They have been named: Sissy, Sam, Shane, Star, Spike, S'More, Sissy & Sassy, & Sheila.
